Book Review:
This is a very interesting volume and is true to its title. It is not a histology test as such and one of the prerequisite for its full use is a good previous knowledge of histology and physiology. It is divided into five sections which conduct the reader through a step by step progression. A short first section reviews the history of the subject and is followed by a study of general principles of histological technology which serve as an introduction to the subject with a rapid explanation of the "philosophy" of staining, a quick description of the bright field and electron microscope. Some space is devoted to the interpretation and understanding of the structures seen through a microscope.
Book almost complete (contains 468 pp./27 chapters); there are three parts left: Chapter 28 - Eye and Ear (pp. 469-495), Chapter 29 (Section V) - Introduction to Exfoliative Cytology (pp. 498-506) and Index (pp. 507-527).
