Description:

Cats have to be caught for all kinds of reasons. Most cat captures conducted by wildlife management agencies are for research. Usually the cat needs to be weighed, measured, sexed, and marked with ear tags or transponders. Blood samples are often taken for health screening and DNA analysis. Depending on the research needs radio collars may be attached for tracking purposes. To conduct all of these operations on an awake cat, well-armed with teeth, claws, and attitude, is challenging at best. When faced with this challenge, people find that drugs are their friends when it comes to handling cats.
