Cystotomy Closure - A Comparison of the Strength of Appositional and Inverting Suture Patterns
ROBERT M. RADASCH, DVM, MS, DAVID F. MERKLEY, DVM, MS, DiplomateACVS, JAMES W. WILSON, DVM, MS, DiplomateACVS, and ROBERT D. BARSTAD, DVM, MS
Pages: 6
Publisher: Veterinary Surgery
Language: English
Edition: 19, 4, 283-288, 1990
Description
STRONG WATER-TIGHT CLOSURE of the urinary bladder is desirable after cystotomy. A suture pattern for cystotomy closure should be easy to apply, minimize tension on the incision, not cause restrictive adhesion formation, not reduce the lumen diameter; provide anatomic realignment of tissue layers, not penetrate the mucosa, and provide a water-tight seal to protect against J urine leakage.
