A preliminary draft of this handbook of diagnosi s and control of diseases in mariculture was made available at the fifth annual meeting of the World Mariculture Society in January, 1974. A request was made at that time for additional unpublished information that could be incorporated in a definitive printed handbook to be distributed at the 1975 meeting of the Society. Response to the request has been good, and a number of research people have provided as yet unpublished information and given permission to have it incorporated in the handbook for purposes of completeness. Inclusion of such information in this handbook should not be construed in any way as interfering with the publication priorities of individual authors.
