Vadim Vladykov became a biology student at the Charles University in Prague, Czechoslovakia, 28 years before me. We both graduated there with similar degrees but three political regimes apart. He arrived in Canada a month after I was born. To complete the reasons for writing this, Vadim had to leave the Prague establishment upon graduation and go as far east in the country as possible (Uzghorod) and so did I (Bratislava); the shrinking distance was determined solely by the new political boundaries. We both ended as Canadians but over 40 years apart, escapees from the same oppressive regime. He was a devoted believer in creation and a member of the Russian Orthodox Church, as I am in evolution and of the pantheist's domain. So we both cherished freedom and disliked cliques, ... , with similar consequences.
