Hi all out there, a few weeks ago one of us reported that he lost all the saved publications because his Laptop broke down, so let us start here individual descriptions how to make backups.

[thanks-THANKS]The way I do:

I have an internal HDD, an external HDD (1TB), two average 16GB USB-Sticks and two microSDHC (one for books and one for journals, both 8GB each) with an micro USB-Reader for each.

The micro Reader:

The microSDHC-Card is inserted to the reader and the reader is put into one USB-Port.

Now each time I save a publication, I save it to my internal HDD and directly to the according microSDHC. So if my computer breaks down, I can take the microSDHC´s and go on.
Each time a micro SDHC is full, I copy it to the according USB-Stick (one for journals and one for books) and parallely to my external HDD.

An even better way is to make full backups to the external media in between not just relying on the microSDHC.

I keep the full micro SDHC´s and "glue" (just a peace of tape) them on a card with a short description of their content.

As the costs for memory gets cheaper every day I also keep each saving, so at last I have 3 Backups still left if my computer breaks down.

If one part of this chain breaks down I make a full hardcopy to another one.

Losing informations is the worst case for a professional, so there is no argument to save money for me.

:thumb up:[/thanks-THANKS]

And of course we could print out harcopies and bind all that stuff to books....
