We should move towards uploading books over torrents. I am fed up with the notices that I get on my emails or the links getting expired. Upload the torrent and just seed it. You will be able to share it to all of the people or the larger community. Torrents don't get deleted and they are easy to download.

Yes the download speed could be an issue but it is covered when there are enough seeders.

What is your opinion on this issue?

I agree that this would make things much easier for the uploaders, but there's also a privacy issue. Your IP address, and the address of anyone who downloads, would be visible. Maybe most people are okay with that, but it's at least something to think about before switching.

Hi,
I think that at first it would be a good idea, but fastly, there 'll be less and less seeders, more and more fake and at the end, you'll loose lots of interesting data. And, honestly, when you look how fast a dead link is actually updated in the forum, i think that there's no need to go on torrents.
And I won't speak about privacy but in lots of countries where copyrighting makes law. How many peoples finished arrested. A happy life is a discreet one.
I love the way that the forum works, even if I'd like if more recent periodics (it seems that in the last year, less people can update them on the forum (watermarking?)).
Thank's everybody for your work and long life to vetelib.

The problem of seeders can be solved using a server computer having and seeding the book always! Things that can be easily do by moderators or by selected user! The costs of the seeding user can be covered by donators sometime. What do you think?

LONG LIFE TO VETELIB !

I think the same as ababyseal, the IP of users / seeders would be visible. The DirectDownload are more anonymous, but it's true that the files are deleted and that it's tiring for uploaders.
I'm still chosing DDL.

It would be a good option and I would consider resubscribing to a seedbox service if we could set up a torrent with most of the linked resources in it. I'm sure I'm not the only one :)

itis good idea and help members who can't participate in uploading ,they help in seeding

I URGE moderators and contributors to consider this, I've been trying to download files from a multitude of upload sites with no success over the last few days, quite upsetting evidently. The best part about torrents from a moderator's POV?! You don't have to worry about re-uploading! Please consider this :)

You don't have to worry about re-uploading!

This could be very fatal to downloaders in certain countries getting punished for active uploading, as P2P-Networks are specially monitored they will get caught with certainty and punished for something they did automatically and probably not intentionally.

In my personal opinion we all should keep off any torrents and direct P2P as a general basis!

Slubi says it all!

If anyone might download something illegal, that we officially do not support, then he is able to delete it and go on with a clear conscience, but if he automatically uploads it in reverse and certainly gets caught with it...it´s over for him, although he might have not wanted to!

This site does not contain illegal material and whatever you download anywhere else is your own issue, but be sure that you do not get punished for anything that was not intentional! And I think that we, as we probably just inform here where you can apparently find whatever, that you all have to check up correspondingly to your own legal situation. We should not support any risky internet-surfing generally!

I agree P2P and torrent are not a good way to go.

Or use Russian cloud storage, they seem to have respect for their users and don't remove files.
yandex
way to go.

I think torrents won't be a difficulty if we are sharing it on a private torrent service like demonoid or so. And that's probably right, if anyone has the file, they can reseed at any time without any difficulties. We can use our vetelib forum for the request of reseeding and book requests.
Probably, the files will stay a bit longer on torrent and we can keep them alive, otherwise on file sharing sites, the files do get deleted or the site itself goes down after sometime.
